Nehemiah: 4:6-8

6“So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. 7 But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. 8 They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it.….and conspired all of them together to come an to fight against Jerusalem and to hinder it.

Biblical Definition of "Hinder": frustrate, forbid. To remain behind, tarry, delay; to withhold, hold back.

Background information on the word Hinder:

The Greek word is enkopto, it was a military term used for cutting slits in the path or street, or placing obstacles in the way to impede the advance of another army. Anything from tearing up the road, to placing large obstacles, such as boulders, or smaller obstacles such as mining the path, where sharp pieces of metal were laid out to impale the horses' hooves or the men's feet. It describes a road that was so deteriorated and broken up that it was impassable, forcing a person to turn around, go back, and try another way to get to the desired destination. Basically blocking the path of the advancing army using whatever means necessary.

**REMEMBER**   a Hindering spirit….introduces an obstacle that stands sharply in the way of a moving object" cutting off what is desired or needed; to block (hinder). And if you’re delayed longed enough ….here comes a mocking spirit as seen in the verse below.

Vs. 4:3…….”even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall”.  Bringing disappoint, delay, discouragement

Spiritual Truth: the purpose of Satan is “To Cause the Work To Cease”, not just in a ministry - but also when you've made up your mind to improve yourself, your financial situation, etc.

Another Example of Hindering Spirits:

The 4th chapter of Ezra tells how those who desired to stop the work of God, actually hired people to  frustrate the plans of God and to keep them from fulfilling their purpose. Israel's enemies hired people to give them advice on how to frustrate their purpose.

An Example of A Spirit of Sabotage

(From Jennifer LeClaire) - The prayer warrior who told me about the spirit of sabotage also told me where she learned about it: Cindy Trimm's book The Rules of Engagement. She discusses the spirit of sabotage on in her book.

"The Spirit of Sabotage operates as strong demonic influences that drive people to abort the progress and success of divinely ordained projects, purposes, relationships, organization, self, potential and destinies. It stirs up jealously, resentment and suspicion, and is often vindictive toward the person who detects its presence. Sabotage can make you both victim and perpetrator so that even when you pronounce judgment on others you both expose and pronounce judgment upon yourself.

"This spirit is so skillful it will use you as a pawn and a puppet on a string, prohibiting you from detecting its hand upon you and the strings that manipulate you. Working with familiar spirits, who act as their reconnaissance, informing them of breaks in hedges of protection, strengths, weaknesses and proclivities of both the perpetrator and victim, its plan is a well-thought-out plan.”

Keep in mind, it is the Fathers will that we come to know who we are, what He has given us and where we fit in His Kingdom plan. Stay vigilant and watchful, it is the Lord's pleasure to give you the Kingdom!!.
