"....Perfect love cast out all fear..." . Have you ever heard that scripture before? "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." I John 4:18 ....What exactly does it mean?
Not all fear needs to be bound and cast out (like we normally lay hands on someone and command the demon of fear to come out) certain types of fears are alleviated by simply getting an understanding of some things . Prov 4:7. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
One thing we need to get an understanding of is - God, as a Father. Personally, when I understood this - fear began to dissipate (at least that kind)!. When I understood that God loves me for who I am and what I am - that made all the difference in the world.
Let me share with how this happened, hopefully it can help free you too. As we studied at the Training Center about our Kingdom Identity - there were two specific songs that were just right for what we were studying. (1) Reckless Love of God & (2) Good, Good Father
As we worshiped in class along with these songs and others, not realizing that I never accepted God as my Father, not really - heard it in church, spoke about - but really accepting Him as "Father"??, never really occurred that I could know the King of Kings in such an intimate and personal way! really?!
Once I begin to really listen, really consider the possibility..... I began to understand that God has a different kind of love, God has that "I know you messed up but I still love you kinda love", His love is the "I don't want anything from you kinda love", His love is the "You can come to me with anything and I will still love you" kinda love; His love is the "I don't want to use you kinda love", the "I will love you anyway, even if you don't do anything for me kinda love!
Now!, as women, we may have been in a few unhealthy romantic relationships, and this is the kind of love we need!!!. We don't won't to be used or abused!, we don't won't to live with the fear, that if we stop "performing" we won't be loved anymore!
As women we want assurance, a guarantee that we will be loved IN SPITE OF! - This is the kind of love that only God, the Father can give - and oh! what a joy it is to receive this type of love! it is readily available! This love is so strong, so tender, and kind that it drives evil away.! God's kind of love will
- persuade you to give yourself away to Him. Yes!!!
When we begin to understand how much God really cares! - it will make you want to move closer into His presence, it will compel you to talk to Him as if you were talking to a friend, a real Father, a really Kind individual. A real Father that has your back!, a real Father that ONLY had the best in mind for us, the best of intentions. That type of real, pure, holy and righteous love, with no ulterior motive behind it, with no strings attached - that type of love brings FREEDOM!
I've got to end this post now, because thinking of how much God loves me, really brings tears to my eyes - that I can have such a love!! whew!!. Understanding & accepting the pure love God has for you will bring a joy and a freedom like none other. I encourage you to accept the Love God has for you - doing this will indeed drive out that fear that lies deep in your heart, it will drive it far away and will empower you to draw closer to God - that wants so desperately to show you how much He loves you. It is a "drawing type of love" that has no strings attached.
